Biosketch:
Chao Ma graduated from Peking Union Medical College obtained his MD degree in 1999. After 1-year of surgical residency in the Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Dr. Ma went to the USA and became a Postdoctoral Associate in Yale University School of Medicine in 2000. Dr. Ma was promoted to Assistant Professor in Anesthesiology in 2008 and started a research group to investigate the neural mechanisms of pain and itch under the support of NIH. Starting from December 2011, Dr. Ma returned to Peking Union Medical College and was appointed as Professor and Chair of Anatomy, Histology and Embryology in the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. Dr. Ma’s research focused on the mechanisms and therapeutic strategy of neurological diseases. He is currently the Vice President and Secretary-General of Chinese Society for Anatomical Sciences (CSAS), and the Vice President of Beijing Society for Anatomical Sciences, and the founding Director of the National Human Brain Bank for Development and Function. Dr. Ma has won a number of national awards in medical education and research.
