Abstract:

Objective To investigate dependence receptors UNC5H3 and DCC in gastric cancer tissues and their association with proliferation, biological features, survival, and prognosis. Methods Tissue micro-array and immunohistochemistry were used to detect expression of UNC5H3, DCC and Ki-67. Integrated absorbance of stained sections was measured by Image-Pro Plus 6.0,and the expressional analysis was also verified. The relationship between UNC5H3, DCC and Ki-67 as analyzed.Survival was evaluated by Kaplan-Meier survival curves. Cox regression analysis was performed to evaluate the possibility of UNC5H3 and DCC as independent prognostic factors for gastric cancer. Results The positive-expression rate of UNC5H3, DCC and Ki-67 in tumor tissues from 60 patients with gastric cancer were 43.3%, 53.3% and 60.0%, respectively. UNC5H3 and DCC expressions were related to lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis (P<0.05). No correlation between UNC5H3, DCC and K-i67 was observed (P<0.05). Using Kaplan-Meier survival curves and the Log-ranktest, there was correlation between UNC5H3 and survival (P<0.05). No correlation between DCC and survival was observed (P>0.05). Using Cox regression model, UNC5H3 and DCC expressions were not significantly correlated with the prognosis of gastric cancer. Conclusion UNC5H3 and DCC may be related with tumorigenesis and tumor progression. The detection for UNC5H3 and DCC may be helpful to evaluate the clinicopathological parameters. The detection for UNC5H3 may also be helpful to evaluate survival time. However, UNC5H3 and DCC may not be an independent prognostic factor for gastric cancer.
